Product Artwork & Design
Why does my product look different from the photos?
Some Wolfgang designs use long artwork repeats, which means the exact pattern placement on your product may vary from the photos. Certain styles also use different artwork on Side A and Side B. On collars, the outside print is most visible while the inside may show a different side of the design. On leashes, both sides may be visible. That variation is part of what makes each piece feel distinct.
What makes Wolfgang different from other dog gear brands?
Wolfgang combines durable, functional dog gear with original artwork created through Wolfgang’s creative direction, including in-house work and select collaborations with real artists and designers. The designs coordinate across collars, leashes, harnesses, and martingales, giving dogs and their people gear built to hold up and stand out.
Does Wolfgang use original artwork?
Yes. Wolfgang features original artwork developed through Wolfgang’s creative direction, including in-house work and select collaborations with real artists and designers. Each design is created to work across coordinated collars, leashes, harnesses, martingales, and accessories.
Where is Wolfgang designed?
Wolfgang products are designed in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Fit & Sizing
Are Wolfgang dog collars adjustable?
Yes. Wolfgang dog collars are adjustable using slide hardware on the webbing. Each product page lists the adjustable size range so you can confirm fit before ordering. The collar should sit snugly with room for two to three fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck.
How do I measure my dog for a Wolfgang collar?
Use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around the widest part of your dog’s neck, usually just above the shoulders. Leave room for two to three fingers. Compare the measurement to the size chart on the product page and choose the size whose adjustable range fits your measurement most securely.
What if I do not have a soft measuring tape?
Use a piece of string or a strip of paper. Wrap it around your dog’s neck, mark the point where it meets, then measure that length against a ruler. Compare that measurement to the size chart on the product page.
What if my dog is between sizes?
If your dog’s measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger size. It gives you more adjustment range and a more comfortable fit. Always confirm the adjustable range on the product page before ordering.
Collar vs. harness: which should I choose?
Collars work well for dogs who walk calmly on leash and need everyday ID wear. Harnesses move the primary leash connection from the neck to the body and can be useful for dogs who need a different kind of handling. Many owners use both: a collar for everyday ID and a harness for walks and outdoor activity.
How should a dog harness fit?
A harness should be snug but not tight. You should be able to fit two fingers between the harness and your dog’s body at any point. The harness should not shift significantly when your dog moves, and it should not restrict natural movement, breathing, or stride.
How do I measure my dog for a Wolfgang harness?
Measure around the widest part of your dog’s chest, just behind the front legs. This is the chest girth measurement. Compare it to the size chart on the product page. If your dog is between sizes, the larger size typically gives more room to adjust.
Martingale Collars
Martingale safety note: Martingale collars should be properly fitted and used under supervision. Do not leave a martingale collar on an unattended dog.
What is a martingale dog collar?
A martingale collar is a limited-slip collar with two loops. When leash tension is applied, the collar tightens gently to help reduce the chance of a dog backing out. When the leash is relaxed, the collar returns to a comfortable fit. Martingale collars should be properly fitted and used under supervision only.
Are Wolfgang martingale collars good for dogs who slip out of collars?
Wolfgang martingale collars are designed to help reduce slipping for dogs who may back out of standard flat collars. The limited-slip design tightens gently with leash tension and relaxes when the leash is loose. They should be properly fitted and used under supervision during walks and training only.
Are martingale collars safe?
Martingale collars can be safe when properly fitted and used under supervision during walks and training. They should not be left on unattended dogs because the loop can catch on objects. Wolfgang martingales are designed as walking and training tools, not all-day or unsupervised wear.
Can my dog wear a martingale collar all day?
No. Martingale collars are designed for supervised walks and training sessions, not all-day or unsupervised wear. The loop can catch on objects, crates, or furniture and become a safety hazard. Use a standard flat collar for everyday ID wear and switch to the martingale for walks and training.
How should a Wolfgang martingale collar fit?
When relaxed, you should be able to fit two to three fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck. When the collar tightens under leash tension, it should be snug but not fully closed. The control loop should not pull the collar completely closed when taut. Compare your dog’s neck measurement to the size chart on the product page.
Martingale safety note: Martingale collars should be properly fitted and used under supervision. Do not leave a martingale collar on an unattended dog.
Leashes & React Leash
Built for the moment your dog spots something before you do.
What is the Wolfgang React Leash?
The Wolfgang React Leash is a dual-handle dog leash. The standard handle at the end works for everyday walking. The traffic handle, positioned near the collar end, provides closer control when keeping your dog near your side matters, such as near roads, crowds, trailheads, other dogs, or high-distraction situations.
What is a dual-handle dog leash?
A dual-handle leash has two handles: a standard handle at the far end for everyday walking, and a second shorter handle closer to the dog. The second handle lets you bring your dog close quickly when you need more immediate control near traffic, other dogs, crowds, or high-distraction environments.
When should I use the traffic handle on the React Leash?
Use the traffic handle when you need to keep your dog close and under immediate control. Common situations include crossing roads, passing other dogs, entering a trailhead parking area, navigating a crowd, or any moment when you need your dog at your side rather than at the end of a 6-foot line.
What is the difference between a standard leash and a React Leash?
A standard leash has one handle at the far end. The React Leash adds a second shorter handle near the collar end for closer control when needed. Choose a standard leash for calm, routine walks. Choose the React Leash if you regularly navigate traffic, crowds, trailheads, or other high-distraction environments.
Care & Cleaning
How do I clean Wolfgang gear?
Clean Wolfgang collars, leashes, and harnesses with warm water and mild dish soap. Scrub the webbing gently, rinse thoroughly, and air dry completely before returning the gear to your dog. Regular cleaning removes dirt, dog hair, trail dust, and everyday grime. Do not machine dry.
Matching Gear
Can I build a matching Wolfgang set?
Yes. Many Wolfgang designs are available across collars, leashes, harnesses, and martingales so you can build a coordinated kit. Check the individual design’s product page to see which product types are available in that print and size.
What should be in a dog walking kit?
A complete walking kit typically includes a well-fitted collar with an ID tag, a reliable leash suited to your environment, and optionally a harness for additional control. Wolfgang makes coordinated collars, leashes, harnesses, and martingales so your dog’s kit can work together visually and practically.
